Chevrolet recently took the soon-to-arrive 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 to Germany to test its maximum velocity on the High Speed Oval at the Automotive Testing Papenburg GmBH proving ground and the results are impressive. To compensate for wind, testing engineers ran the ZL1 both clockwise and counter-clockwise on the facility’s 7.6-mile loop, and reached 202.3 mph in one direction and 193.3 mph in the other. These results were achieved courtesy of the Camaro ZL1’s 650-horsepower, supercharged LT4 engine and all-new 10-speed automatic transmission. “This test caps an impressive list of performance stats for the Camaro ZL1, which was designed to excel at everything,” said Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer. “It’s the most capable — and fastest —Camaro ever.” Phillips Chevrolet in Frankfort and Lansing has Illinois’ Largest Chevy Inventory, including a great selection of Camaros which the ZL1 will join any day now.
